Still Zentangling
2011 Thread Play
Our latest challenge for Common Threads was playing with thread.
Top left: Made an abstract design with different coloured threads.
Bottom left: Turned it over and coloured the back with Sharpie markers.
Right: I sewed this one entirely with white cotton thread then painted the thread with Sharpie markers each side different.

Still Challenging ourselves.
Challenge #5 - Create something with junk. Use items you would normally throw away. My project is made with a plastic envelope marked priority courier in French and English. The envelope was white on the outside and silver on the inside. I slit the gray side and made strips of the white and wove them into each other. I cut out the letters and the recycle symbol for the middle of the flower. The flower is made with a floppy disc. I stitched it all down to laminate floor underlay.
Challenge #6 - Layering. Cut several layers of fabric and stack them. Create your design by sewing and then cutting away to reveal the different fabrics.

2011 Paradox Zentangle quilt 2
This one is made with a wonderful metallic thread. I mounted it on a painters canvas 12 x 12. The edge lines are supposed to be straight but because I did such close stitching, the fabric stretched a little. I still like it.
2011 Music All Over
What started out as a Kaffe Fassett Pattern did not end up looking anything like one, but that usually happens to me. Something inspires me but it gets a life of it's own in the end.
2011 Life's a Stitch
Store bought jacket that I embellished.
2011 Bargello Table Runner
I took a great workshop at the Little Britain Church Hall with the In Stitches group. The finished table runner measures approximately 2' x 4'. Not only was the workshop great but the food was awesome including lasagne, two salads, and three desserts that were gluten free. Thanks for a wonderful day.
2011 Active Radical Twist (or ART for short)
This project started off as a coffee time doodle at work. I decided I liked the shapes and wanted to make it into a quilt but a flat quilt wasn't going to do it justice so I created a 3 dimensional piece of fibre art.

2011 St. James Anglican Church 21st Annual Quilt Show and Tea Challenge
Another quilt show, another challenge. I love to see what everyone ends up with when we all start with the same piece(s) of fabric. We had a lot of entries this year. More than half the challenges purchased came back. So nice to see.
Beausejour Centennial Quilt Project
So far I have made three 12" blocks for the Beausejour Centennial Quilt Project. I'm not sure if I will do more but I hope this entices others to get involved.
2011 Batik Sunshine
Made with a bunch of batiks. Measures 50" x 70".
2011 Sari Quilt
There's nothing I love more than a good challenge that involves fabric. I made this quilt from 6 Saris from one of Nicole's friends. They are her mothers, her mother-in-laws and her grandmothers and the quilt is for the baby she is expecting. Although the fabrics are beautiful, they left a lot to be desired when it comes to quilting but I did it. :D
2011 Baby Quilt
Made for a girl I used to work with who just had her baby 2 months premature.
2011 Carellan challenge
We all started off with a fat quarter of the pink print along with a 2 1/2" strip of brown fabric and the same size blue or green fabric.
2011 Motorcycle
I was so inspired after taking a two day class with Vikki Pignatelli. I never did finish what I was working on in the class but started thinking about this quilt and using the curved piecing technique to complete it. The next week my husband and I travelled to Fargo, North Dakato to pick up a motorcycle trailer and I sketched all the way there. When we arrived I noticed the trailer business was a couple doors down from Mill Ends, so I walked over while he was taking care of business. I found the fabric for the background that gave the quilt a kind of rusted old sign look which was the inspiration for the oval shape and chains to hang it. The quilt which combines his love for motorcycles with my love for art and quilting hangs in our living room.
